Future Leader Award

Fifth-grade student Katelyn O’Neal is not only a leader in the classroom, but in various other extra-curricular activities as well. Her success in a number of areas makes her the winner of the CollegeChoice Future Leaders Award. Indiana Treasurer, Richard Mourdock, announced Katelyn as the winner of the CollegeChoice Future Leader Award and presented the Riverside Intermediate School student with a $1,000 scholarship account in front of her family, teachers, and fellow classmates.

Katelyn was nominated for the Future Leaders Award by her Riverside Intermediate School Principal, Donna Burroughs, who describes her as a leader among her peers. “Katelyn is a positive influence on her peers,” Burroughs wrote in her nomination. “Her compassionate nature and optimistic attitude make her an outstanding young student leader.”
