Boys and Girls Club Needs Your Help

As you know the, Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County was substantially damaged by the flood several weeks ago. They lost their electrical panel, two furnaces, and a hot water heater. In addition, the clean-up expense from the flood waters has been very expensive. Fortunately, Washington School is keeping the doors open for the children and families who depend on the club, but the club needs your help.

On February 16, 2008, the Boys and Girls Club will hold a benefit to raise money. The benefit will be held at Christos Banquet Center and the theme will be Catch a Wave at the Blue Hawaiian. The silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m., and a live auction at 8:15 p.m. Finally, you can dance the evening away featuring Master of Ceremonies, Quentin Flagg, and live music by MGB. Tickets are $50.00 each and are only available until February 8, 2008.

Get your tickets or make a donation by sending a check to: Wendy Haenes, Plymouth Community School Corporation, 611 Berkley Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563. Please make checks payable to: Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County.

Indiana Treasurer, Richard Mourdock, announced Katelyn as the winner of the CollegeChoice Future Leader Award and presented the Riverside Intermediate School student with a $1,000 scholarship account in front of her family, teachers, and fellow classmates.

Katelyn was nominated for the Future Leaders Award by her Riverside Intermediate School Principal, Donna Burroughs, who describes her as a leader among her peers. “Katelyn is a positive influence on her peers,” Burroughs wrote in her nomination. “Her compassionate nature and optimistic attitude make her an outstanding young student leader.”
