With ice still covering many country roads and temperatures hovering near freezing, Plymouth Schools are closed on Tuesday, December 11, 2007.

The Jefferson music concert for tonight is cancelled.

The Plymouth Schools Holiday Party is postponed until Thursday, December 13, from 3:30 - 5:30 in the high school's Red Rock Cafe.

I agree that it is better to err on the side of caution, but come on!!! Why did we cancel school, again?

Apparently we need better weather forecasters, because once again, the rain is not freezing, in fact, the 'warning' has been cancelled!

Why is Plymouth closed and the other schools around us are on a 2 hour delay only. Our kids will be going to school into June. Come on let's do a better job in getting our kids to school. All you have to do is look around town and see that the kids are out and about. They can't go to school but they sure can get out to go shopping. I am willing to bet that if there was a basketball game scheduled school would have been in session.

TO ANONYMOUS WHAT IS UP WITH PEOPLES ADDITUDE? THINK ABOUT ANONYMOUS, IF YOU HAD CHILDRIN THAT IS IN SCHOOL, AND YOU LIVE IN THE COUNTRY WHERE THE SALT TRUCKS HAVENT HAD THE CHANCE TO SALT THOSE ROADS AND WAS NOTHING BUT PURE ICE. WHOULD YOU WANT YOUR KIDS TO RICK THERE LIVES OF BEING KILLED? RICK SCOTT DOES A GOOD JOB ON HIS SCHOOL DELAYS AND CLOSINGS FOR THE DAY. WHY RISK THE BUS DRIVERS LIVES FOR THIS? SCHOOL BUSES DOSENT HAVE SEATBELTS(WHICH I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD MAKE THAT A LAW) AND WHAT IF THE BUS GETS INTO A ACCIDENT AND KIDS GET HURT? WE SOULD BE IN SCHOOL TOMMROW UNLESS IF WE GET MORE FREZZING RAIN OR ALOT OF SNOW. I THINK THAT IN MY OPINON THERE SHOULD BE A 2 HOUR DELAY FROM WHAT I JUST HEARD ON WSBT NEWS 22 AT NOON.

THANK YOU,
FROM A FRESHMAN STUDENT AT PHS

There was no reason why school should of been canceled.

If you have read the comments, you should now understand why we needed to be in school. We don't need an ISTEP test to tell us that some of our students aren't learning, just a blog will do.

Is it true?...After today any other cancelled days get tacked on to the end of the school year? And to think, it is only December. But, I do not think it is fair to blame anyone on making the decision to close or not. That, I can only imagine, is not a job many of us would want to have. Put yourself in their shoes, do you want that to be responsible for thousands of children's well- being? You people that are complaining about not having school would be the first ones knocking on an administrator's doors if we had had school today and, God forbid, something had happened to one of our faculty or student's. Let's be thankful that ALL of our kids and teachers are safe and that we are not the person in charge of these truly tough decision's!

Guys, you really need to clam down. It may look all nice and stuff where you live, but other places may still have bad roads from the night before. The freezing rain from this morning didn't help much either.

do you want to know the real reason why we didn't have school on Tuesday? they was expecting the rain to change back over to freezing rain in the middle of school and they would have to send every1 one. but the rain didn't change. it was a safety precaution
