School closed tomorrow?
Jefferson street is closed. Last time Jefferson was closed and we had to go to school it took an hour to get there, and when we got there, the teachers were told not to take attendance in the first two hours. What is the point in us being there if they are not even going to take attendance? Country roads are closed, city roads are closed, and we are in a state of emergency. So what more do you need for school to close? Students living in the country should not have to take a 20 minute detour to be able to get to school in the morning. That is plain ridiculous.

It's really going to bug me if we have school. I don't want to have to be stuck in traffic or waste gas detouring(which i would rather not have to pay for more with prices being so high.)just so i can miss almost 3 class periods of my day because our school is so worried about having school into the summer time. it is pretty ridiculous.

People...why beg for no school?? we will end up going into july if we keep this up! Do you really want a 1 1/2 month summer

i'm really doubting having to go into july.
honestly.
there's still 15 days that would need to be cancelled for us to go into july.

i'd rather go to school into the summer than go through all the bull and have stuff like accidents like those 3 kids in middlebury.

I am staying neutral on school cancellations, but I do have one question. If the river does not crest and it rains/snows tomorrow, will that not raise the water level of the river and/or cause more icy road conditions? I understand that we are trying to not miss anymore school, but I would think that safety should be the main agenda when considering school on Friday. Also, will the school still have the play on Friday? In the last two days no event has occured after 5:30 p.m. Unfortunately, the play starts at 7:00 p.m. with cast and crew arriving around 5:30. That would mean considerable traffic around the high school after normal school hours with flood conditions. I am not sure that the school would be liable for any accidents that might occur, but it seems unsafe to let crowds drive in conditions after dark when the school has chosen to not allow this in the past two days.

Quit whining people! No one is forcing you to drive when it is dark. If you can't make it to school because of the flood, then don't go. Who cares if it is on your record as a missed day? You will survive and make it through life.

I also have confidence in our bus drivers. They aren't going to do anything stupid to harm our children. And if you drive.... be careful, or better yet, take the bus and leave the driving to someone else. Duh!!

i have better chances of living when i'm driving rather than letting someone else drive me.
i'd be safer with my own judgement.

We should be more worried about out kids safety then how many days we make up. Seriously
