Two Championships on Saturday for Plymouth

Basketball Championship
Plymouth's basketball team won the AAA State Title Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. It was Plymouth's second basketball championship for Plymouth and coach Jack Edison. Plymouth jumped to an early lead and ended the game with a 72-61 win over Evansville Bosse. At the game's end, Jason Renz won the Mental Attitude Award. It was a great day for Plymouth's players, coaches, cheerleaders, pep band, parents, and fans.

Speech Championship
Plymouth's Speech Team won the AA State Title Saturday just seven miles south of Conseco Fieldhouse at Southport High School for the 10th time in the last 11 years. Declan Fox and Lizzie Brown won state championships in their events. Eight other Plymouth speakers finished in the top six. Congratulations to the speakers, coaches, and all of their loyal fans.

why was the speech team recognized along with the basketball team on wednesday. first of all no one really cares about the speech team. second off, it really isnt that big of an accomplishment to win the state speech tourney considering that almost NO area schools even have teams. I think that the basketball team should have got to have their own celebration, because the accomplishment of the basketball team dwarf the acclompilishments of the sppech team. if the basketball team had the same competition as the speech team, i am almost positive they would win 10 out of 11 championships too.
GO PILGRIMS

I am very proud of the speech team for their accomplishments. Why belittle kids who have put forth a lot of hard work and effort throughout their season. Just because speech might not be something you are interested in doesn't mean that those kids aren't just as deserving as the PHS Basketball team for their accomplishments! Thanks for congratulating both teams Tom Flynn! I echo his call: Congratulations to both the PHS Speach Team and the PHS Basketball team! You both put forth a lot of hard work this year!
